November 4-5, 2024, the International Advisory Board Annual Meeting, School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology was held. This marks the sixth meeting since the establishment of IAB and the first since its reorganization this year. The IAB is chaired by Joseph A. Alutto, Distinguished Professor, Emeritus, Fisher College of Business, Ohio State University, Former American provost of the National Center for Industrial Science and Technology Management Development at Dalian, and 12 other members from international corporations, world-class universities, and research institutions: Wai Fong Boh, Vice President of Nanyang Technological University, Edwin Tai Chiu Cheng, Dean, Faculty of Business, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Franz Decker, President and CEO, BMW Brilliance, Ananth V. Iyer, Dean, School of Management, University at Buffalo (Associate Dean Nallan C. On the morning of November 4, the 2024 International Advisory Board Annual Meeting opened. All members of SEM leadership, faculty representatives , representatives of research and innovation teams attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by SEM Assistant Dean Xu Zhaoguang. Wang Jue, Director of DUT International Office, Ye Xin, Dean of School of Economics and Management, and Joseph A. Alutto, Chairman of the International Advisory Board, delivered speeches respectively. Wang Jue welcomed all members of the International Advisory Board, and looked forward to IAB members’ providing high-level strategic consultation for SEM, and to their continuous attention and support DUT's international cooperation and exchange. Ye Xin stated that SEM has reorganized the International Advisory Board with high standards, and stands at a new historical starting point, hoping to further expand the areas of cooperation, improve the level of exchanges, and explore cutting-edge management concepts and practical experiences. He looked forward to IAB members’ offering valuable suggestions from a global perspective and professional vision to promote the high-quality development of the School. Joseph A. Alutto expressed his deep honor in being appointed as the Chairman of IAB, and hopes that the School can develop more and higher-level partners around the world and enhance its international influence.
Ye Xin issued Appointment Letters to IAB members
During the two-day meeting, SEM DeanYe Xin, Secretary of the Party Committee Sun Yutao, Associate Deans Li Xianeng, Song Xiaobing, and Ding Yongjian, and Assistant Dean Xu Zhaoguang respectively reported on the introduction of the School, including faculty management, discipline construction and scientific research, talent cultivation,case teaching, international cooperation and exchange, and the digital and smart+ strategy, and elaborated on the opportunities and challenges faced by the School. IAB members Shi Yong, Saonee Sarker, Yunzeng Wang, Edwin Tai Chiu Cheng, Clas Neumann, Franz Decker, Nallan C. Suresh, and Ulrich Thonemann, delivered wonderful speeches on themes such as artificial intelligence and digital economy, teaching and scientific research internationalization, student programs, and the opportunities and challenges faced by enterprises in the era of artificial intelligence. Conducted by Chairman Joseph A. Alutto, the attendees discussed in-depth on the transformation and technological development of artificial intelligence, the purpose and mission of talent cultivation, internationalization strategy, and brand building. IAB members offered constructive suggestions and advice to the School and expressed their willingness to actively engage in further cooperation with the School, providing support and assistance for SEM to be a world-leading business school with deep roots in China.
