The Department of Management Science and Engineering contributes to the construction of national key disciplines of management science and engineering in Dalian University of Technology. After more than 40 years of development, the department now has a post-doctoral research center in Management Science and engineering, a doctoral program in management science and engineering, three master’s programs in Management Science and Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Big Data Technology and Engineering, as well as undergraduate programs in Information Management and Information Systems, and Big Data Management and Application. Platforms include the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for E-government Simulation and the Big Data and Intelligent Decision Research Center of Dalian University of Technology.
The Department of Management Science and Engineering currently has over 40 full-time faculty, a high-level research and teaching team led by Academician Wang Zhongtuo, distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education, recipients of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars. Innovation team was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2013 and the innovation research group was approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2014.
Continuous efforts in the construction of "211 Project " and "985 Project" and "double first-class" promote a distinctive research field, focusing on system, decision, information, data, knowledge and intelligence. The key development directions include intelligent optimal decision-making and basic theories of complex systems, digital commerce and smart logistics, digital government and social governance, data and knowledge-driven advanced intelligent systems and smart traffic management.
The department has undertaken and completed projects entrusted by the State, provinces and cities and large and medium-sized enterprises, such as the key project team of the National Natural Science Foundation, the national key research and development plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the "863" project and the national key research project. It has won 2 national Science and Technology Progress Awards, 2 National Teaching Achievement Awards, and more than 40 provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards.
