Funding Management Measures for International Exchange Students of World-renowned Universities of School of Economics and Manangement

To encourage and expand SEM (School of Ecnomics and Management) faculty exchanges and cooperation with European/American, as well as other world-class universities, to attract more outstanding international students from world-renowned universities to exchange in the School, and to build an exchange platform for young scientific research talents, SEM has formulated the Funding Management Measures for International Exchange Students of World-renowned Universities.

I. Funding Plan

1. Types of Funding: The Funding is provided for full-time master's or doctoral students from world-renowned foreign/overseas universities to engage in academic and study exchanges in SEM. The international ranking of the foreign/overseas university should not be lower than that of our university.  

2. Duration of Funding: 1-12 months.

3. Fields of Funding: Majors related to economics and management.

4. Amount of Funding: For students engaged in academic exchanges, the monthly support standard will be implemented according to the current standards for full-time academic master's (first-class scholarship standard) and doctoral students of Chinese nationality at our university, with an accommodation fee of 1,000 yuan per person per month. For postgraduate students who engage in academic exchanges in the School for no less than 3 months, travel expenses will be supported (economy class, with an upper limit of 5,000 yuan). If exchange students at the School level take one Chinese course (if tuition fees are required) from School of International Education, the School will provide funding to the exchange students for their Chinese course tuition fees.

II. Conditions for Funding Candidates

1. Physically and mentally healthy;

2. Master's degree candidates should not exceed 30 years old; doctoral degree candidates should not exceed 35 years old;

3. During the application and participation in the exchange period, candidates must be enrolled as full-time students at their home universities.


III. Application Instructions

1. The co-supervisor within the School should comprehensively review and recommend applicants who meet the requirements in terms of their attitude towards China, academic performance, scientific research ability, language proficiency, health status, and no criminal record.

2. There is no limit to the number of applicants, and the funding results shall be subject to the notification of the School.

3. During the exchange period in the School, students should actively study and deepen their studies, carry out high-level cooperative research, publish high-level academic papers, and promote cooperation between faculties and institutions.

4. Co-supervisor within the School can submit the Funding application to the International Cooperation and Accreditation Office at any time, the Office then will submit the application to the Joint Conference of the School's Senior Leadership Team for approval within one month.

IV. Application Method

Students and co-supervisor within the School intending to apply should fill out the "Application Form for Short-term Visiting International Students" and the "Approval Form for Short-term Visiting International Students". Academic exchange students are also required to submit a "Research Proposal for International Exchange Students". Electronic versions of the above materials (see attached forms) should be sent to chuxia@dlut.edu.cn, and the hard copies should be submitted to Teacher Chu Xia in Room C405.

V. Other Matters

1. The cultivation of international exchange students adopts a supervisor responsibility system. Once the international exchange students (non-Chinese nationality) pass the funding review of the School, the International Cooperation and Accreditation Office will assist the supervisor within the School to submit the "Application Form for Short-term Visiting International Students", the "Approval Form for Short-term Visiting International Students" and other materials to School of International Education, who will handle the exchange students’ admission procedures, and daily management will be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Handbook for International Students at Dalian University of Technology". International exchange students (Chinese nationality) should also fill out the above forms for the School review, but the application for school accommodation in the "Application Form for Short-term Visiting International Students" is not applicable to them. Once international exchange students (Chinese nationality) pass the funding review of the School, the International Cooperation and Accreditation Office will report the relevant materials of the students to the Postgraduates Affairs Office of the School, and daily management will be carried out in accordance with the relevant provisions for academic postgraduate students at Dalian University of Technology.

2. The School has designated studios for international students for daily study and research, adopting an open workstation management model. International exchange students must comply with the corresponding management systems of the School to use open workstations.

VI. International students from universities outside the country/territory applying for this funding may simultaneously be eligible for spnsorships from national or university or other programs. The above SEM Funding Management Measures shall come into effect from the date of issuance, and any other matters not covered shall be interpreted by DUT SEM.
